K-6 Students, Parents Invited to ‘Back to School Night at the Library’

The Virgin Islands Department of Education (VIDOE) in conjunction with DPNR’s Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums invites students in grades K-6 and their parents to the first “Back to School Night at the Library,” which is slated for Saturday, Aug. 20, on St. Thomas and Saturday, Aug. 27, on St. Croix.
The free event is in support of the 8th Annual Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge, which challenges students in grades K-6 to read five or more books during the summer. The challenge began on June 8 and will conclude on Sept. 23.
At the event, students will enjoy storytelling, story writing, arts and crafts, a movie and more. There will also be workshops and activities for parents attending the event.
St. Thomas – from 3-8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, at Turnbull Regional Library in Estate Tutu
St. Croix – from 3-8 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 27, at Florence Williams Public Library in Christiansted
Students may wear pajamas or bring their favorite blanket to the fun event. They must be accompanied by an adult to participate.
