Officer Confiscates Firearm Near Nightclub

An off-duty police officer working private security for a Red Hook nightclub confiscated an unlicensed firearm and a fully loaded magazine from a man near the club, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The incident happened about 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

According to the preliminary police report, the officer saw a man with a loaded magazine in his possession. Police also found a loaded 9 mm Luger handgun in his vehicle.

The man was later identified as 29-year-old Hollis “Omari” Anthony.

Anthony was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and placed on a $25,000 bail. He was remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending further court action.
