Gunshot Injures Man in Oswald Harris Court

A 21-year-old man was shot at least once in his left leg after a fusillade of bullets were fired Monday in the Oswald Harris Court housing community, the V.I. Police Department reported.

According to police, the incident occurred about 12:15 p.m.

The victim, whose name was not released by police, said he heard about five shots being fired and he felt himself get shot in his left leg. He said he ducked between two vehicles in the area and called a family member on his cell phone. He was taken by private vehicle to the Schneider Regional Medical Center for treatment.

The victim told police he did not see anyone in the area and does not know why anyone would want to shoot him.

The case is being investigated by detectives of the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Information also can be called in to the 911 emergency dispatch center or the anonymous tip service, Crimes Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be sent via text message to Crime Stoppers by sending the word USVI plus the message to CRIMES (274637).
