Positive Vibes and Waitikubuli Both Win

The 2013-2014 St. Thomas Region’s league champions, the Positive Vibes, edged their main nemesis, the New Vibes, 1-0 in Thursday night’s late action at the Lionel Roberts Stadium. The New Vibes, who were hoping to wrap up second place since the Haitian Victory were upset by the Waitikubuli by the same score of 1-0 in the earlier game, would have to wait until they play the last placed Togetherness in the late game this Sunday.
The Positive Vibes’ Dwight Allen scored from a free kick midway in the second half and it proved to be all they needed for the victory. In the earlier match, the Haitian Victory’s unbeaten run of eight games came to an end when they suffered an upset loss to the Waitikubuli. The Waitikubuli’s Denis Hurtault scored off a free kick in the first half.
It was not one of the better performances by the Victory, who had difficulties penetrating the Waitikubuli’s defense or beating goalkeeper Miguel George. The places for the ‘big four’ is still not completely set as the UWS will play the Raymix at 5 p.m. on Sunday on a game that could determine 4th place, while a victory by the New Vibes over the Togetherness in the night cap would bring them the 2nd place award.
