Two armed men robbed the Kmart in Lockhart Gardens on Wednesday night, according to the V.I. Police Department, making off with the day’s deposits.
The robbery was reported to police at about 10:45 p.m.
When officers arrived on the scene the store assistant manager told them he had secured the day’s deposits in the designated safe while another employee looked on. As he left the office, the assistant manager realized there were two armed and masked men in the hallway.
The suspects told him to go back into the room and open the safe or he would be hurt. The suspects took cash from the safe and left the area.
The assistant manager said he immediately called 911.
The suspects were described as wearing hoodies, blue jeans and white sneakers. They also had gloves on their hands and cloths covering the lower part of their faces.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau urged anyone with information to call 1-340-714-9834 or 1-340-715-5522, the 911 emergency call center, or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
