Hummers, Stealers and Enforcers are Bob Owens Monday Night Winners

The Hummers, Stealers and Enforcers were Monday’s winners in the Bob Owens Slowpitch softball league at the D.C. Canegata ballpark. The National Guard Hummers outslugged Set it Off, 23-16; Seaborne Stealers hammered Anchor Dive Pirates, 24-10; and the Enforcers surprised the Benray Lumberjacks, 23-15.

Hummers 23, Set it Off 16

The league leading National Guard Hummers continue to look like world beaters as they knocked off the defending champions, Set it Off, 23-16, in Monday’s opener. It was the Hummers with 23 runs on 24 hits and four errors, while Set it Off finished with 16 runs on 18 hits and three errors.

Stanley Jones got the win on the hill for Hummers and Julio Carmona got the loss. Top batters for the winners were David Clark (4 for 4 with two homeruns and five RBIs) and Sylvester Blake (4 for 4 with a homerun and five RBIs). For Set it Off, David Samuel was 2 for 3 with two homeruns and five RBIs, and Masimo Santana was 3 for 3 with a homerun and two RBIS.

Stealers 24, Anchor Dive 10
The Seaborne Stealers blew a close game wide open in the late goings to sink the Anchor Dive Pirates, 26-10, in game two. The Stealers finished with 26 runs on 26 hits and four errors while the Pirates had 10 runs on 18 hits and three errors.

Sam Ramos got the win on the hill for the Stealers; Edwin Sankitts got the loss. Top batters for the Stealers were Ronald Schjang (4 for 5 with two homeruns and three RBIs) and Steve Simmonds 2 for 5 with a homerun and two RBIs). For the Pirates, Daren Lewis was 3 for 4 with two homeruns and three RBIs, and Arthur Cannonier was 3 for 4 with a homerun and one RBI.

Enforcers 23, LumberJacks 15

The Enforcers, mired at or near the bottom of the Bob Owens League standings, are starting to make some noise with the playoffs looming. They pulled another shocker on Monday when they whipped the Benray Lumberjacks, 23-15, to the delight of many of the fans that withstood the chilly evening and stayed for the late game.

The Enforcers exploded for 23 runs on 22 hits and two errors while limitting the Lumberjacks to 15 runs on 16 hits and three errors. The winning pitcher was Javier carpio and Greg miller got the loss.

Top batters for the winners were Rob Davis (4 for 4 with two homeruns and five RBIs) and Clayton Pollock (3 for 4 with a homerun and three RBIs). For the Lumberjacks, Miller and Asim Shillingford were both 2 for 3 with a homerun and two RBIs.
