Brief: Classes Return to Normal at Henderson Wednesday

Classes at Alexander Henderson Elementary will resume on their normal schedule Wednesday, after students were dismissed early Tuesday after an outlet in the school’s kitchen caused a minor fire, St. Croix Superintendent Gary Molloy announced.

"Because of the rainfall we experienced last night (Monday,) we experienced low voltage to the school, which caused a problem with the outlet," William Matthew, the St. Croix District’s Director of Maintenance, said Tuesday.

While there were no flames, the outlet continued to emit smoke, which was taken care of by the school’s staff. A licensed electrician was dispatched to make sure all electric systems were working properly.
