Robbery Averted on St. Croix

Police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred at the Pastry Hut in Estate Carlton in Frederiksted around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. An armed gunman attempted to steal money from the business but was unsuccessful and left the store.

According to the police report, an armed male entered the business and jumped over the counter. He demanded that the cashier open the register and give him money.

The suspect, however, went to the register and tried to retrieve the money himself but couldn’t open the register. The suspect then left the store without taking any money. No one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black male about 6 feet tall wearing khaki coveralls and dark sunglasses. During the attempted robbery, he covered his face with a yellow shirt.

Police urge anyone who has any information about this robbery to call detectives at 712-6037, 712- 6077 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
