USVI-PTSA Congress Invites Public to Convention

The 2012 Convention of the U.S. Virgin Islands Parent Teacher Student Association (USVI-PTSA) Inc.has been scheduled for9 a.m. to 4 p.m. onSaturday, June 2, at the University of the Virgin Islands, St Thomas. Registration opens at 8 a.m. Cecil Farrell, USVI-PTSA president, says the organization continues to reach out to parents and schools to educate them on the benefits of National PTA affiliation and states that family and community engagement is critical to the education and well being of all children.

The USVI PTSA also announces that Betsy Landers, president of the National PTA, will be the event’s keynote speaker. Ms. Landers was installed as National PTA president in June 2011. Landers, believes that the real power of PTA lies at the local level. It’s the parents who dedicate themselves to improving their children’s education, PTA members who are committed to advocating for all children-those are the people who make a real difference.
Registration fee is $25 per person. Registration forms are available at: www.edline.net/pages/STTSTJ/PTA, at the Curriculum Center or public schools or can be requested from the USVI PTSA.
Advanced registration and fees (checks or money orders only) can be mailed to Attention: Convention Registration USVI PTSA, PO Box 6167, St. Thomas,VI 00804or by drop-off at locations on the registration form. For on-site registration, forms can be submitted via e-mail to usvi-ptsa-conference@hotmail.com or by fax to: Facsimile: (340) 776-4491. Cash accepted on-site only.
The convention is open to public participation, and all stakeholders are encouraged to register and to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute and receive vital information about how PTAs and PTSAs can benefit our schools and community.
