Brief: Queen Mary Hwy. By Anna's Hope Closed At Night Till June

A portion of Queen Mary Highway, or Rte. 70, in the Anna’s Hope area will be closed 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., from Monday to June 1. The temporary road closure will be in effect in order to pave a portion of the highway.

“Approximately one mile of roadway will be under repair, and detours will be in place to accommodate traffic flow. Project work will be conducted at night and in the early mornings in order to minimize traffic disruption along the highway, as this is a major thoroughfare. The public’s patience and cooperation is appreciated as we continue upgrading the Territory’s infrastructure and roadways for the better,” Public Works Commissioner Darryl Smalls said in a statement.

The repaving will begin 50 feet west of the intersection at Constitution Hill Road, or Rte. 708, in Beeston Hill down to the Church of God in Anna’s Hope. All westbound traffic will be detoured via Rte. 708 Constitution Hill Road, and all eastbound traffic will be detoured via Rte. 708 and Rte. 62.

Public Works advises the motoring public to avoid this area while construction is in progress.
