St. Croix Spelling Bee Slated for Feb. 17

St. Croix district 2012 Spelling Bee will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, at Good Hope School. About 23 school-bee winners representing public, private and parochial schools will be vying for the district spelling championship.
Spelling contenders and their schools are: Mireja Baxter, AZ Academy; Imani Evans, Pearl B. Larsen Elementary; Jakeel Jackson, Alfredo Andrews Elementary; Raniah Francis, Evelyn M. Williams Elementary; Tavian Armstrong, Reading Rainbow; Thea D’ Eramo, Country Day; Amina Wallace, Manor School; Hasely Durand, Seventh-day Adventist; Jade Bryan, St. Croix Christian Academy; Lanaya Cotton, Juanita Gardine Elementary; Yad Bass, Ricardo Richards Elementary; N’bari Alexander, Church of God Holiness Academy; Naim Powell, Arthur A. Richards Junior High; Aaron Harris, St. Patrick’s School; Destinee Turnbull, Free Will Baptist; Kevin Augustine, Charles H. Emanuel Elementary; Trinity Cupid, Alexander Henderson Elementary; Joshua Joseph, Eulalie R. Rivera Elementary; Kyle Fennessey, Good Hope School; David Gonzalez, Elena Christian Junior High; Khaien Donnawa, Claude O. Markoe Elementary; Kenisha Webbe, John H. Woodson Junior High; Kimberly Cordero, Lew Muckle Elementary and Noor Kahled, IQRA Academy.
The St. Croix spelling bee champion and five runners up will compete in the territorial spelling bee along with six top spellers from the St. Thomas-St. John district on Friday, March 9, on St. Thomas.
