Celebrate New Year’s Eve at the Sisterhood Agenda’s Sisterhood/Brotherhood Youth Extravaganza dance party in Cruz Bay Park. Aimed at youth ages eight and 15, the party runs from 8 p.m. until just after the midnight toast on Saturday (Sunday morning).
“It’s a safe and fun way to usher in the New Year,” Angela Coleman, president of the Sisterhood Agenda, said.
The event is free, but registration is required. Coleman said registration begins at 7 p.m. in Cruz Bay Park, also called Frank Powell Park. Parents must register their children.
“Parents don’t have to stay, but they must pick their children up,” Coleman said.
When parents register their children, they’ll have an opportunity to sign them up for 2012 programs sponsored by the Sisterhood Agenda, the V.I. National Park, the Police Department, and the St. John Community Foundation. Each of those organizations will make a five-minute presentation during breaks in the dancing.
DJ Percy will play music, and snacks, drinks, and other goodies will be provided.
“We’ll toast the New Year with Sprite and Coca Cola,” Coleman said.
Coleman said that adult chaperones are still needed.
