The Lumber Jacks, Hummers and Softball Inc. were Tuesday’s winners in the Bob Owens Slow Pitch Softball League. The Lumber Jacks doubled up Anchor Dive 14-7, the National Guard Hummers hammered the Enforcers 23-10, and Softball Inc. won by way of a forfeit.
Lumber Jacks 14, Anchor Dive 7
The Lumber Jacks continue to improve as they knocked off the Cartel 14-7 in Tuesday’s opener, and continue their climb up in the league standings. It was the Lumber Jacks with 14 runs on 17 hits and two errors, while Anchor Dive finished with seven runs on 10 hits and two errors. The winning pitcher was Greg Miller and Edwin San Kitts got the loss. Top batters for the winners were Brandon Biggs, 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs; Miller, 3 for 4 with two RBIs; and Kai Miller, 2 for 3 with three RBIs. For Anchor Dive, Aldemar Santos and Kaol Snyder was both 3 for 4, and Tafari Carter was 2 for 2.
Hummers 23, Enforcers 10
The National Guard Hummers exploded for 23 runs on 24 hits to pound the Enforcers into submission in five innings by a score of 23-10. The Enforcers, sitting one game out of last place in the 10-team league, did manage to score 10 runs on 13 hits against one of the league’s best pitchers in Roy Vialet. Unfortunately, they also committed five errors, which proved to be their downfall. Jason Roberts got the loss for the Enforcers. Top batters for the Hummers were Kai Schjang, 4 for 4 with a home run and one RBI; Sylvester Blake, 3 for 4 with two home runs and seven RBIs; and Neal Davis and Colin Williams were both 3 for 4 with a home run and one RBI. For the Enforcers, Ron Davis was 2 for 2 and Max Soto was 2 for 3.
