Hilson E. Dickenson, better known as “Slim Thing,” died on Dec. 18 at Schneider Regional Medical Center. He was 56 years old.

He was predeceased by his son, Everson Hilson Dickenson. He is survived by his mother, Joanna Thompson; companion, Leona Phipps; sons: Eugene Phipps Jr., Elroy Phipps and Lashon Phipps; grandson, Gene Phipps; sisters:Maude Harvey, Fernella Phipps and Angela Dickenson; brothers: Leonard, Lloyd, Norris, Rohan, Garfield Dickenson, Seymour, Gleason and Halford Thompson; aunt, Delores Dickenson; daughter-in-law, Germain Phipps; sisters-in-law: Louisa Dickenson, Indrig Dicksenson, Lorna Dickenson, Carol Dickenson and Nanyamka Thompson; Brother-in-law, Carlton Harvey; special friends: Carol Stagger, Lionel Williams, Malik Molyneaux, Carol Douglas, Anthony Marrishow, Fat Man, Ivan Sedarkum, Cheryl and Joseph Dunrod and Tambie Phipps; godchild, Aisha Marrishow; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing held at 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a second viewing at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5, at Memorial Moravian Church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 3.
