A 2-year-old boy in Estate Profit Hills was seriously injured Saturday evening when he was struck by a white Ford Explorer, according to a release from the St. Croix Police Department.
According to police, the boy was standing near some mailboxes shortly before 8 p.m. when the vehicle, heading west in Estate Profit Hills, hit him. The child, who suffered a fractured pelvis and bruises on his left arm and right abdomen, was taken by ambulance to Gov. Juan F. Luis hospital.
Soon after the accident, the car’s driver was assaulted by several people who were in the area at the time. He was cut on his face, bruised on both hands and was also treated at the hospital, according to the release.
No further updates on the child’s condition were available Monday evening.
