V.I. National Track and Field Team Compete at CAC Championships

The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation announced today that the V.I. National Track and Field Team will compete in the XXIII Central American and Caribbean Track and Field Championships in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico this weekend.
CAC Team Females:
1] Allison Peter 100m, 200m
2] Courtney Patterson 100m, 200m
3] Wanetta Kirby 100m hurdles, long jump, heptathlon
4] Ninfa Barnard 800m, 1500m
CAC Team Males:
1] Tabie Henry 400m (competing in Diamond League in Europe)
2] Leslie Murray 400m hurdles
3] Muhammid Halim Triple Jump
4] Calvin Dascent 400m, 200m
5] Leon Hunt Long Jump
6] Hasheem Halim Triple Jump
7] Collister Fahie Long Jump
8] Adrian Durant 100m, 200m
9] Juan Robles 3000m Steeple Chase
10] Seymour Walter 800m, 1500m
Team Leader: Trudie Golphin
The V.I. team members will be traveling from a number of locations to make up the largest team ever for these championships, which will be held at the Jose A. Figueroa Freyre Stadium, the venue for last year’s CAC Games. Thirty eight countries from what is considered the most competitive area for sprinters in the world are invited to the championships. Repeat male competitors for the V.I. CAC Team are Tabarie Henry (competing in Europe in the Diamond League), Adrian Durant, Leslie Murray, Leon Hunt and Calvin Dascent. The others will be competing at this level for the first time. Courtney Patterson and Wanetta Kirby are the repeat females.
Notes:
1] The CAC Championships is a qualifier for the IAAF World Championships, the Pan American Games and the London Olympic Games.
2] V.I. National Team Members who have already qualified for the IAAF World Championships are: Tabarie Henry 400m, Calvin Dascent 200m and Allison Peter 200m.
3] V.I. National Team Members who have already qualified for the London Olympic Games are: Tabarie Henry 400m and Allison Peter 200m.
4] V.I. National Team Members who have already qualified for the Pan American Games are Males: Tabarie Henry 400m, Leslie Murray 400m hurdles, Calvin Dascent 200m, Muhammid Halim Triple Jump, Leon Hunt Long Jump, Collister Fahie Long Jump
Females: Allison Peter 200m and Courtney Patterson 100m
5] V.I. National Record holder, Laverne Jones-Ferrette gave birth to her daughter Asana in March and is training for the Pan Am Games.
6] CAC National Coaches: Charles Golphin (Sprints, Hurdles, Jumps); Nathan Taylor (Jumps, Hepthlon, Steeple Chase); Chris Encarnacion (Middle Distance)
7] The CAC Team is funded by a grant from the Virgin Islands Olympic Committee
