Summer Parent University Schedule Announced

The following schedule of classes is for the Parent University Summer program. Sessions will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. onTuesdays,Wednesdays and Saturdays unless otherwise specified, according to a press release from St. Croix Coordinator of School and Community, Janet Brow.
Tuesday, June 28
Family Reading: The Love of Readinginstructed by Nilaja Taylor at the Curriculum Center.
Wednesday, June 29
Hurricane Preparedness: A Hands on Approachby Janice Tutein at the Agriculture Room at St. Croix Career and Technical Education Center (CTEC).
Tuesday, July 5
Money Management: Investing and Savinginstructed by Julie Rhymer at CTEC’s Agriculture Room.
Wednesday, July 6
Teaching Literacy Using Artsinstructedby Maria Stiles at CTEC’s Agriculture Room.
Tuesday, July 12
Home Economics: Healthy Eating Habitsby Anton Doos at CTEC’s Home Economics Room.
Wednesday, July 13
Learning About St. Croix: People and Places that Matterinstructed by Sonia Dow at Estate Whim Museum.
Tuesday, July 19
Health Symposium – Mental Illness”from 11 a.m. to noon instructed by Donnabel Pierre and Annette Scott at CTEC’s Agriculture Room
Health Syposium: Thousand Helpersfromnoon to 1 p.m.instructed by Judy Bain at CTEC’s Agriculture Room.
Wednesday, July 20
Agriculture: Feeding Your Self (Container/Box Gardening)from 11 a.m. to nooninstructed byStafford Crossman at CTEC’s Agriculture Room.
Parentingconducted by Sandra Phaire fromnoon to 1 p.m.at CTEC’s Agriculture Room.
Saturday Family Toursof St. Croix are scheduled to “Blue Mountain”on July 9 guided by Victor Somme, and a special “Half-day Tour” of St. Croix will conducted by Tan Tan Tours on July 16.
The closeout ceremony for St. Croix Parent University Summer sessions is being planned for Saturday, July 23,at the Department of Education headquarters at 2133 Hospital Street, Christiansted.
