Captain Michael Rock McManus Memorial Service Held

Captain Michael Rock McManus of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, died on Jan. 28. He was 56 years old.
Mike was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on Jan. 14, 1955, to James Arthur McManus and Rita Cecilia (Rouse) McManus. He graduated from St. James High School in 1973 and attended Stockton State College in Pomona, NJ. He remained in Atlantic City working in the casinos until 1991 when he moved to St. Thomas where he first worked in the food and beverage industry. He later worked as a charter fishing boat captain. Captain Mike worked on many fishing boats, most notably the Fly By. Fishing was his true vocation, and he was known as one of the best fishermen on the island.
He is survived by a daughter, Hannah, of Ireland. He is also survived by his brother, Stephen; sisters: Eileen, Heather and Amy; and his stepmother, Jackie. He was predeceased by his mother in 1967, his sister Meg in 1980 and his father in 1990.
A memorial service will be held at Latitude 18 on Cabrita Point at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26.
