USFSC Sponsors Tortola Surf Classic Easter Weekend

Using Sports for Social Change (USFSC) is sponsoring the Tortola Surf Classic, an open surf contest held during Easter weekend (April 23-25, 2011). The probable location will be Bomba’s, Capoon’s Bay. The goal is to involve as many surfers as possible from the U.S. Virgin Islands, the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Adults and kids can register at the Island Surf and Sails Web site: www.bviwatertoys.com/2011SurfClassic/tabid/89/Default.aspx. Make sure to add to the registration that you are registering for the surf contest, and try to register early. The fee is $10 for all boys, girls and grommer divisions; it is $20 for adults. (Payment is accepted only through PAYPAL to surf@bviwatertoys.com).

All participants will receive a free contest T-shirt and a prize. There will be an opening and closing parties. The opening party will be on April 22, at the Jolly Roger (there will be late registration at that time).
Scott Hustins of Island Surf and Sail in Tortola is organizing the event and he is seeking sponsors on and off island. Donations can be made through PAYPAL to surf@bviwatertoys.com) or by contacting Scott at 284-494-0123. T-shirts and banners will carry sponsors’ logos.
Divisions include: men’s open; women’s open, boys open, under 18; girls open, under 18; grommets under 12; masters open, over 35; longboard open (minimum 9’ board, or 3’ overhead for kids).
