Motorcyclist Killed in Sub Base Traffic Accident

A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed Friday when he crashed into a car turning off of Sub Base Road.

According to St. Thomas/Water Island Deputy Police Chief Dwayne DeGraff, at about 12:57 p.m. 911 dispatch advised police of an accident on Sub Base Road.

Police said Earl Toussaint, the driver of the motorcycle, was traveling west on the motorcycle and collided with a Suzuki Aerio traveling in the same direction and turning right into the parking lot of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration building. Toussaint was thrown off the motorcycle on impact, according to the report. The motorcycle continued traveling without the driver and collided with a safari taxi.

Toussaint was transported to the Roy Lester Schneider Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

No injuries were reported from individuals in the two other vehicles involved in the accident. Traffic enforcement officers are investigating this case.

Deputy Chief DeGraff urged motorists to be extra cautious when operating motorcycles and vehicles on the roadway, and to always pay attention to any approaching vehicles.
