District Holds Professional Development Sessions for School Personnel

St. Thomas-St. John District Superintendent Jeanette Smith Barry advises district personnel of the upcoming district orientation next week and mandatory professional development sessions to be held during the week of Aug. 23. The sessions are being held to orient the new hires, introduce them to key district personnel, and provide them with valuable information and professional development as they begin the school year. Veteran teaching professionals will also receive professional development throughout the week. The schedule of sessions is as follows:
Aug. 17 @ 8:30 a.m. District orientation for new school-based employees at the Curriculum Center (Laga Building, Anna’s Retreat)
Aug. 23 @ 8 a.m. Writing Workshop for K-6 classroom teachers only: Lockhart, Tuitt, Sibilly, Bowsky, Sprauve and Guy Benjamin schools at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Resort
Workshop for kitchen managers at Addelita Cancryn Junior High School
Aug. 24 @ 8 a.m. Writing Workshop for K-6 classroom teachers only: Marcelli, Muller, Abraham, Gomez, Dober and E. Benjamin Oliver Schools at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Resort
Writing Workshop for all literacy and reading coaches, language arts chairpersons, and district primary and language arts coordinators at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Resort
Workshop for all kitchen staff at Addelita Canrcyn Junior High School
Aug. 26 @ 8 a.m. District-wide orientation and workshop for administrators and instructional staff from all schools at Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa
Training sessions on requisitions, travel and per diems for secretarial staff at the Curriculum Center
@1 p.m. Leadership session for all school based and district administrators at Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa
@ 1 p.m. Workshop for monitors and other department personnel atWyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa
There will be other professional development workshops taking place at the schools during the week of Aug. 23-27. For more information, contact the Office of the District Superintendent at 775-2250.
