Carmen Maria Martinez

Carmen María Martínez, also known as “Mami,” of J.F.K. Terrace died on Sept. 15, in West Palm Beach, Florida. She was 72 years old.

She is survived by her husband, Celedonio Martinez; mother, Estebania Torres; daughters: Blanca Maldonado, Carmen Cassius, Maria Khan, Sandra Walcott and Marta Nicholas; sons: José, Celestino, Ishmael, William, Eddie, Johnny, Josue and Isaac Martinez; special adopted daughter: Cherene Williams-Walters; adopted children: Angela, Carmen, Celia, Althea, Clarence, Cecil, Cecil Jr., Clifton, Arnold, Alson and Michael Simmonds;grandchildren: Taniella, Jose and Linda Martinez, Melady and Travis Dolcar, Misael and Keila Maldonado, Jamal and Danny Andrews, Shawn and Kama Cassius, Joshua, Darian, Amber Marie and Jahmaris Martinez, Abramarie and Abraham Khan Jr., J’eNe Walcott and Lawrence Walcott III, Gary, Gareem and Genique Nicholas, Shamyra, Jessica, Elyssa, Iahkeil, Iahkiem, Asani, Izaiah, J’lene, Isaac Jr., Izani, Izaylia and Izangeli Martinez; adopted grandchildren: Roshawn, Rohan and Roneisia Watson; sisters: Milagritos Davila, Lydia Negron, Gloria, Malen and Carmen Carrion, brothers: William and Santiago Carrion; great-grandchildren: Teq’keisha and T’ana Matthew, Horace Matthew Jr., Kianna and Eliasim Maldonado, Jamal Williams Jr., Aundre Dolcar, Kamil Cassius and G’Nia Nicholas; Sierra Scotland, Earl Morris Jr.; sons-in-law: Samuel Maldonado, Kenneth Cassius, Abraham Khan, Lawrence Walcott Jr. and Gary Nicholas; daughters-in-law: Latoya and Dona Martinez; special friends: Olga Torres, Ada Alicea, Medora Granville, Sharon Freeman, Joan Mulvine, June Davis, Irene Prentice, Sophia Carrasquillo, Carlos Encarnación and members of El Buen Pastor; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 11 a.m. and a funeral service at noon, on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at El Tabernaculo Church in Williams Delight, Frederiksted. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
