Police Investigate Tuesday Homicide

Police are investigating the death of 42-year-old Hawthorne Saunders Jr., whose body was discovered by police around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Saunders had been shot multiple times and was found lying on the kitchen floor of a guest house in Estate Contant on St. Thomas, according to a Police Department press release.

Saunders was born in New York but was a St. Thomas resident, the release said.

The case is being investigated by VIPD’s Major Crimes Bureau. Residents with any information can call detectives at 642-8449 or 715-5545, or the anonymous tip service Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS.
