Rotary Club Awards Javon Jade Alfred Scholarship

May 25, 2009 – The Rotary Club of St. John has chosen Malik Stevens as the recipient of the 2009 Javon Jade Alfred Scholarship during the fourth annual Javon Jade Fun Day on Saturday, May 23. Stevens will graduate with high honors from the St. John School on Gifft Hill, and he will be attending Georgetown University in the fall.
The close-knit community of St. John came out on Saturday to remember and celebrate the life of Javon J. Alfred, Malik Stevens' younger brother. The St. John Community Foundation, The Rotary Club of St, John as well as numerous friends of the Alfred family came out to support this annual event in remembrance of young J.J. Alfred, who died in a tragic accident in December 2004.
