Feb. 13, 2009 – The St. Croix Chapter of the American Counseling Association of the Virgin Islands will hold its annual Professional Development Conference from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 27, at the Divi Carina Bay Resort. The theme is "Helping Professionals: Preparing Tomorrow's Leaders Today," and the keynote speaker will be Frederick Phillips, Ph.D., who is the founder of the Progressive Life Center.
Dr. Phillips, a former president of the National Association of Black Psychologists, is a trained and licensed psychologist and social worker. He also has advanced training in the areas of clinical hypnosis and forensic psychology. He received his BA from Pennsylvania State University, his M.S.W. from the University of Pennsylvania and his PSYD from Fielding Graduate University, in California. His 38 years of professional experience include positions as a military social worker, youth worker, researcher, assistant professor and community clinical psychologist. Dr. Phillips is the founder of Progressive Life Center (PLC), which is a human services agency with offices in four states and in the country of Ghana.

Registration cost: members…$60; non-members…$75; retirees and students…$50. The cost of registration includes lunch and continuing education units. Participants must remain for the entire conference to receive CEUs.
