December 9, 2008 — The three remaining unbeaten teams in the Bob Owens Slow-Pitch Softball League were all in action Monday night at the D.C. Canegata Ball Park and at the end of the night all three had retained their unblemished records.
Softball Inc, National Guard Hummers and the Seaborne Stealers were all winners Monday and they stayed tied atop the standings as the League’s elite teams to date.
Softball Inc 20, Speak the Word 17
Speak the Word outhit Softball Inc 29-22 but came up on the short end of the stick in game one Monday night, 20-17. Softball Inc scored its with 20 runs on 22 hits with two errors, Speak the Word finished with 17 runs on 29 hits while committing four errors. The winning pitcher was Bill Harris while Ian Lewis got the loss for Speak the Word. Top hitters for Softball Inc were Ariel Gil, who went 3 of 4 with a home run and five RBIs and Cody St. Pierre, who was 3 of 4 with a home run and four RBIs. For Speak the Word Carlos Morales was 5 of 5 with three home runs and five RBIs and Sylvester McIntosh was 2 of 3 with a home run and four RBIs.
National Guard Hummers 26, Claudio Enterprises 13
The Hummers doubled up Claudio Enterprises 26-13 in game two on Monday with a display of firepower that left the losers stunned. Claudio Enterprises, a Bob Owens perennial powerhouse, was left playing catch up all night. The Hummers pounded out 28 hits, including included six home, runs to account for their 26 runs, while Claudio finished with 13 runs on eight hits and three errors. Jerry Vialet was the winning pitcher and Julio Carmona got the loss for Claudio. Top hitters for the Hummers were Edgardo Sanes, 4 of 4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Mario Christian, 4 of 4 with a home run and five RBIs. For Claudio, Juan Burgos was 3 of 3 with two home runs and four RBIs and Juan Isaac was 3 of 3 with a home run and two RBIs.
Seaborne Stealers 29, Cartel 9
Ace pitcher Sam Ramos handcuffed the Cartel, limiting them to just three runs, while his team, the Seaborne Stealers, unleashed a ferocious offensive attack that generated 29 runs on 30 hits, including the maximum allowed six home runs. The Cartel finished with nine runs on 14 hits with two errors. Enrique Soto was almost a one-man Wrecking crew as he blasted four of the Stealers six home runs en route to a 5-of-5 night with 13 RBI. He was well supported by teammate Owen Pimentel who was 4 of 4 with a home run and four RBIs. For the Cartel Joey Jones was 2 of 3 with a home run and two RBIs and Roger Moore was 2 of 2 with two RBIs. Dave McFarland got the loss on the hill for the Cartel.
