The Positive Vibes and the UWS Record Victories

Nov. 13, 2008 – In the battle between the league-leading New Vibes and the fourth-time defending champions the Positive Vibes, the second place Positive Vibes prevailed with a 2-1 victory in the St. Thomas Region's action Tuesday night, Nov. 11, at the Lionel Roberts Stadium. In a hotly contested affair in which the Positives Vibes had two players, Alexis Saddle and Bruce Hewlett, ejected, the Positive Vibes were able to reduce the New Vibes lead to 3 points as the third-round action began. The Positive Vibes' Kellen Ganiko put his team ahead 20 minutes into the first half. The New Vibes' Junior Laurencin equalized with his penalty kick that hit the post and rebounded off the Positive Vibes goalkeeper, Jermaine Riley, into the goal. At half time the score was deadlocked at one apiece. In the second half, the Positive Vibes' Keithroy Saddler scored a hard right foot shot from close range to seal the victory. After 16 games for both teams, the New Vibes leads with 42 points while the Positive Vibes has 39.
In the evening's earlier game, the UWS' Chris Barbour scored early in the game as they held on to edge the Waitikubuli 1-0. With this victory, the UWS move into third place with 26 points followed by a tie for fourth place between the Waitikubuli and the Laraza, both with 24 points.
Action will continue at 7 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 13, when the UWS face the Central Link, followed by the Waitikubuli vs. Laraza.
