Sept. 17, 2008 – At Tuesday night's St. Thomas Region's soccer action at the Lionel Roberts Stadium, the Waitikubuli and Laraza teams recorded victories by edging their opponents, the Raymix and the Haitian Superstars, respectively, by identical scores of 3-2, according to a press release from the U.S.V.I. Soccer Association. In the nightcap Laraza had an early comfortable 2-0 lead but had to withstand the Superstars' late attack to earn the victory. The goal scorers for Laraza were Eldon Cole, William Vargas and Sharwin Watts, who each scored one goal. Richardson Paul and Fijack Gourdet scored for the Haitian Superstars.
In the earlier game, the Waitikubuli's David Sorhaindo scored twice to give his team a 2-0 half-time lead. Midway in the second half, Kirdy Tavernier scored for the Raymix to reduce the lead to 2-1. Delroy Prosper put the Kubuli ahead 3-1 before Raymix's Tavernier scored his second goal for the final score of 3-2.
