Central H.S. Announces School Uniform Policy

July 31, 2008 – Charmaine Hobson-Johnson, principal of the St. Croix Central High School, reminds parents, guardians and students of the following guidelines regarding the school's uniform policy:
Female Students:
Skirts
Maroon skirts must be boxed or knife pleated with a waistband no more than two (2) inches wide. The skirt length must cover the top of the knee or may be longer. The back of the skirt must reach the bend at the back of the knee. No lace, frills, ornamentations, wrap skirts, skorts or bibs will be allowed. Maroon full-length pants also with no more than a two (2) inch waistband may be worn. No cargo, oversized, form fitting, Capri or low-rise pants are allowed.
Top White, cotton short-sleeve and buttoned down at the front with collar or regular fit white pullover shirt without ornamentation.
Shoes Black or dark brown or black, white or maroon sneakers may also be worn. Slippers, slides, mules, high heels and boots are not allowed.
Socks White or burgundy socks; worn above the ankle and to the knee is acceptable. No ornamentation.
Jewelry One pair of earrings, one watch, one small chain with a small pendant and one bracelet are acceptable. Absolutely no rings allowed.
Male Students:
Pants Plain khaki trousers worn on the waist with a belt. No cargo or over-sized pants, extra embroidery or printed designs will be allowed.
Shirts White regular fit shirt or pullover, with short-sleeves, buttoned down at the front with a collar.
Shoes Black or dark brown shoes should be worn or a pair of black, white or maroon sneakers. Slippers and boots are not allowed.
Socks A pair of knee high black, brown or white socks must be worn.
Jewelry One watch, one small chain with a small pendant and one bracelet are allowed. Male students are not permitted to wear earrings. No rings are allowed.
"All students are to be appropriately dressed and groomed. Any style of dress which threatens the health and safety of the individual student, or the student body as a whole, or which disrupts the learning situation, or tends to cause a breakdown in the morale or general discipline of the school, is prohibited. Violations of the uniform policy in part, or in its entirety will result in disciplinary actions to include being sent home until the student can return properly attired," said Hobson.
