June 27, 2008 — A 31-year-old man was shot and killed late Thursday in Frederiksted despite the efforts of firefighters called to the scene who tried to save him.
Craig Liburd had been shot three times when he was found at 9:40 p.m. Thursday in the street near King Cross and Queen Street in Frederiksted. Firefighters Melvin Irvin and Leo Macedon from F Company administered CPR while waiting for emergency medical technicians to arrive, but neither they nor the EMTs could save Liburd, according to a release from the V.I. Police Department Friday morning.
Acting Police Chief Oakland Benta is asking the community to cooperate with police in solving the crime. Anyone who has information on this homicide is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Bureau or the chiefs office at 778-2211 or police emergency 911.
