Agriculture to Offer Tax Workshop for Farmers

The Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the V.I. Bureau of Internal Revenue, University of the Virgin Islands – Small Business Development Center and the Cooperative Extension Service, will host tax preparation workshops for farmers. The workshops are designed to assist farmers with the proper filing procedures to take full advantage of tax breaks available to them and also meet requirements of the V.I. Code, according to a press release from Commissioner of Agriculture Louis Petersen Jr.
Forms such as the Schedule F, "Profit or Loss from Farming," and 242VI, "Information to Support Claim for Subsidy of 90% of Income Taxes Paid under the Farmers, Fishermen and Consumers Assistance Act of 1977," will be explained.
The workshop for St. Thomas is scheduled for 7-9 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at the SBDC Training Center, Nisky Shopping Center.
For more information, contact the Department at 774-5182 on St. Thomas.
