Player’s Choice Dominates in Season Finale, 10-3

Nov. 29, 2007 — Marie Encarnacion scattered six hits and struck out eight as she pitched Player’s Choice to a decisive 10-3 win over Endless Posse-bilities on Wednesday.
Encarnacion was well supported offensively by center fielder Patricia Phillips, who went 4 for 4 with four RBIs on the night. The game was the last of the Quarren Schjang women’s softball league regular season and the playoffs are set to begin on Friday.
With the lopsided victory, the Arthur Canaii-coached Player’s Choice showed they will be a force to reckon with in the postseason.
Batting first, Endless Posse-bilities came up with an unearned run to open the scoring for the game. Player's Choice answered with a two-run homer off the bat of Patricia Phillips to take a 2-1 lead after one inning.
After a scoreless second, Endless Posse-bilities tied the game at two in the top of the third on an RBI double off the bat of Sherry Simmonds. Player's Choice again answered with two runs in their half of the inning on an RBI single by Joeana Reynolds and a fielder’s choice to take the lead for good at 4-2.
Player's Choice put the game out of reach in the bottom of the fourth after the competition failed to score in the top of the inning. They scored four runs on an RBI single by Phillips, a two-run single by Renee Hansen and a fielder’s choice to lead 8-2 at the end of four completed innings.
Endless Posse-bilities picked up their final run of the game in the top of the fifth on an error to trail 8-3 after five innings.
Player's Choice went on to add two unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Encarnacion set Endless Posse-bilities down in order in the top of the seventh for a 10-3 final.
Encarnacion went the distance to record the win, while Simmonds picked up the loss for Endless Posse-bilities. Top hitters for Player’s Choice were Phillips, 4 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs, Hansen, 2 for 4 with one RBI, and Jewel Velez was 2 for 4. For Posse-bilities, Simmonds was 2 for 3 with one RBI, and Leah Davila was 2 for 4.
