Dear Source:
Thank God our Executive Branch under Governor de Jongh is coming to the rescue in regards to the VI energy crisis that we have. Thank You for your clear leadership Gov. de Jongh! HOPEFULLY- this will also allow him to input the limited thinking of the VIWMA's plan mandated by our past Governor into more progressive "think out of the bin" solutions.
I attended the VIWMA Opening ceremonies at Concordia on St. John sponsored by Waste Mangement; Clean Islands and The EPA's federal branch. I was amazed, in meeting new people there at the good number of delegates from down Island who had very creatively solved their Islands waste problems…and they didn't tax people on everything. This was the 13th year of this conference…and as a new person who just attended this for the first time, I could not help but ask the question: "If this conference has been going on for 13 years….why do we still have those "nasty bins" on our roads….why haven't we made some gains in this area?"
Answer by 3 individuals: "Politics". Enough, please. We can't go on like this. Now the real bottom line-question is: Will our Senators put the good of our territories before their obvious need to "run things"…and badly, may I add? I how that our Legislative Branch recognizes that the citizens our these Territories are not giving them a passing grade to date, and we are not forgetting about Bill #6905. I suggest that this is a good time for those Senators who really care about our Islands to show some much needed leadership and break with "the pack". Perhaps now with our governor involved, there can be some common sense approach to really looking at this problem and finding some progressive solutions!
