The Passing of Attorney Alphonso Nibbs

Dear Source:

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Attorney Alphonso Nibbs my Brother at the Bar and classmate at Howard Univeristy Law School Class of l982. From August 1979 when Alphonso and I entered Howard Law School, there was no doubt that he was determined to get the most out his studies; he stayed with his head buried in the textbooks and was ready to defend any position he took on a particular issue. We studied together for exams and no doubt he did well and was respected by his classmates.
After returning home, Alphonso commenced work at the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs where he did a great job in making certain that the consumer laws and regulations were strictly enforced. Thereafter, he moved to the GERS where I believe he made his biggest contribution by ensuring that the retirement system's business was conducted in accordance with applicable rules and regulations and law. When retirees called him for advice, he responded promptly. He was the retiree's guardian at the GERS and was in the process of helping to update the legislation relating to the system. No doubt, he will be missed.
Condolences to his family from my wife Betty and myself as well as the Howard University Law School Class of 1982. May he rest in peace.
