March 31, 2007 – The St. Croix Federation of Teachers will award five $1,000 one-time scholarships to two students from St. Croix Central High School, two students from St. Croix Educational Complex and one private-school student. The scholarships are for children and dependents of members of the American Federation of Teachers.
To apply a student will need:
— Transcripts for the last seven semesters;
— A one-page letter of recommendation from a counselor, teacher or community leader;
— Written biographical information and educational aspirations;
— A letter of acceptance to a post-secondary school;
— A grade-point average of at least 3.0;
— To fill out the St. Croix AFT scholarship questionnaire; and
— To perform 50 hours of community service.
