Alexander’s Bella Blu Exhibits Photographs

Feb. 27, 2007 – "The Art Show" at Alexander’s Bella Blu presents “MotionScapes," an exhibit of photographs in the Impressionist tradition by Bob Lefferts. The show opens on Friday, March 2, with a meet-the-artist reception held from 5-7 p.m., at Alexander's Bella Blu, in Frenchtown, St. Thomas.
Leffert's work is represented by Gallery St. Thomas. The coordinator of the show, Claire Ochoa, says, "His photographs convey a sense of nature's splendor and serenity, yet the deliberate impressionistic blurring allows viewers to find their own meaning in these seascapes and landscapes. They offer new insights into the graphic and color elements of familiar scenes."
"In earlier careers teaching at the university level and then as president of my own marketing firm, I came to understand the amazing impact of graphic images on emotion and understanding," Lefferts said. "With Claude Monet and Georgia O'Keefe as my artistic heroes, I feel the camera helps me to focus on light, texture and impressionistic themes."
Though he is relatively new on the photography scene, Lefferts' work quickly sparked interest. His first show in 2004 at Schnell's Amore Gallery in St. John was followed by two exhibits at Maho Bay Art Center, an extended one-man show at Spinnato Gallery on Long Island, New York, and several group exhibits. This year Lefferts' work will appear at galleries in Greenport and East Hampton, New York.
The reception will feature Wente wine and appetizers. The exhibit will be on view through April of 2007 and is open to the public. All work is for sale.
