Jan. 11, 2007 — St. Croix attorney Kenrick E. Robertson has accepted the position of Licensing and Consumer Affairs Commissioner in the deJongh-Francis Administration, according to a Government House release issued Thursday.
Robertson is currently the staff attorney at Legal Services of the Virgin Islands. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. Virgin Islands and the 3rd Circuit. Robertson has practiced law in: public housing, property, labor, individual rights, consumer financing and benefits.
Prior to his current assignment at Legal Services, Robertson was director of renovation at the Health Department. He has held positions in real estate management in New York and served as a program analyst and tax auditor.
With his vast experience in consumer advocacy and working on behalf of those that need representation and counsel, Mr. Robertson is expected to bring about the changes that are needed to protect the rights of all V.I. consumers, Gov. John deJongh Jr. said Thursday.
The governor also said he expects that Robertson will tackle hot-button issues, such as high gasoline prices, implementation of the food basket survey, and educational programs on pyramid schemes, which are impacting so many in our community.
"I am pleased to have been asked to serve in this capacity and I look forward to pursuing the objective of the deJongh-Francis administration, Robertson said Thursday.
Robertson holds a J.D. from St. Johns University School of Law, New York; a masters in Business Administration from Pace University and a bachelor's in Economics from Pace College in New York.
He is married to Rita Robertson and is the father of two adult children:
Sean and Kenrick.
