Walking Their Talk

Dear Source:

On the editorial or commentary of "Who is Holding Them Accountable", not just the legislators but that whole group of overpaid people in Government positions, people who we entrust to do their jobs on a daily basis. This group the ones that wear the high titiles often are not doing the work that they consider tedious and as a result not monitoring those who work under them.
Granted apathy for self is not limited to the folks in the Virgin Islands but come on people why is it that one of the most naturally beautiful cities in the world (Frederiksted) is so neglected? It is downright criminal for public works or whoever is in charge of the waterfront; where the natives and everyday around the way regular people, go to enjoy themselves; to have removed all the garbage cans why? As a result the picnic table area where people could sit is cluttered with garbage all over the ground why? You have this amazing beautiful waterfront, beautiful trees, fruits and flowers and all this trash on the ground as though the people who are running the city are saying they don't give a damn about the areas where the cruzans like to gather or about the people themselves. How could they honestly say they care?
It almost seems like this neglect is done on purpose. 1. to give outsiders the impression that the housing project across from that section is responsible for the clutter but they are not. why were the trash cans removed? 2. one of the things that makes Frederiksted so valuable is the fact that you can just drive up and go in the water anywhere along the beach that you choose, but with the underhanded deals made by the big boys in charge that go on to steal the joy of the people by selling out to the rich is criminal. Honestly it seems like letting the city 's most valuable property get so neglected is yet another ploy for the economical rape of the island. First the folks in charge sold Frederiksted out with the sewer and now the trash. Yet you have these Legilsators riding around asking people to vote looking for a big paycheck with all the perks and telling the people whatever they think they want to hear and they don't even care about the way our city looks? I mean come on the legislative offices are downtown in Frederiksted and they have to pass these areas all day everyday and have the audacity to tell the public to vote for them for what? They are not preserving the most valuable commodity of their home besides the children, their land. Is the corruption limited to the legislatures no but the stuff runs downhill. The many cases of the I don't want work today is really taking it's toll on the island. St Croix the most beautiful of the Territory and it is being abandoned by the gatekeepers who are entrusted with keeping it safe. When will they begin to walk their talk?
Sad about the destruction.
