District Governor for Rotary International Nominated

May 30, 2006 – At the Rotary International District 7020 Annual PETS Assembly and Conference held on May 10-13 in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, Rupert Ross Jr. was nominated to be the district governor. As governor, he will oversee the affairs of the district, which include Anguilla, the Bahamas, the British Virgin Islands, the Caymans Islands, French West Indies, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Maarten, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. There are a total of 2150 Rotarians in 67 clubs in the district. As governor, Ross must meet with all the clubs in his district during the first six months of his administration.
Rupert Ross Jr. was born to Rotarian Rupert Ross Sr. and Octavia Oliver Ross in Frederisksted, St. Croix. He joined the Rotary Club of St. Croix West in 1982 and has twice served as president, twice as treasurer and has held leadership roles on many committees. Ross has also served as district governor group representative, conference chairman and district secretary. He is presently completing a three-year appointment as assistant governor and will serve as district club chair in the 2006-2007 year.
Ross is married to Cheryl Seales Ross and has three children and three grandsons.
In his new challenge as district governor, he pledges to continue to live up the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self."
