Road Will Close for Water Lines, Paving

Oct. 26, 2004 – The road that runs alongside Enighed Pond from the public tennis courts to Pond Mouth on St. John will close Friday so the V.I. Water and Power Authority can remove old water lines and install new ones. When that job is done, the road will be paved as part of the Enighed Pond commercial port project.
This road is officially known as Fish Fry Road and Route 105.
The road will remain closed until the first week in December.
"It's going to be an inconvenience," Deputy Public Works Commissioner Ira Wade said.
He said that most of the people who live along that road have a way to access their homes from the side roads that run uphill from Fish Fry Road.
Those who can't must park in a small lot adjacent to the Pond Mouth pumping station.
Elaine Penn, who's lived in this neighborhood for more than 20 years, said she's glad the road will finally be improved.
"You know how many years we've been waiting for this to happen? We are so eager," she said.
