Sept. 12, 2004 – The After-School/Homework Assistance Program at the Eulalie R. Rivera Professional Development School has been expanded to include 7th and 8th graders. This program is being offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. weekly. It previously was just offered to students at the elementary school level. It gives students the opportunity to get assistance with homework and in subjects they may be having difficulties with in school.
Police Commissioner Elton Lewis and Denise Lewis of the Grove Place Weed and Seed made the announcement in a recent press release.
The program begins on Sept. 29. Applications can be picked up at the Weed and Seed Office, located next to the Grove Place Fire Station, during business hours or from Joanna Brow at the Eulalie R. Rivera School.
Lewis stated that parents are being asked to visit with the teachers and helpers working in the program and bring their children along.
