Zelda LeVine-Levitan Dies in New York

Zelda LeVine-Levitan, the first owner of Lion in the Sun boutique on St. Thomas and an owner of the LALAoUNIS jewelry shop here, died May 30 in New York City of pancreatic cancer. She was 72.
Though she moved from the island to New York City in 1982, she remained a frequent visitor. She had many friends here who remembered her fondly for her indomitable spirit and joie de vivre.
She is survived by her husband, Milton Levitan; children Andrea, Nancy and John, who attended Antilles School, where Zelda served on the board of trustees; son-in-law Lee and daughter-in-law Marlene; grandchildren Adam, David and Abby; sisters Charlotte and Claire; and stepchildren Dan, Richard and Robert Levitan. She was previously married to the late Herbert LeVine of St. Thomas.
A memorial service was held June 4 at the Harmonie Club in New York.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of donations to the Jacob Perlow Hospice or the Cancer Center, both at Beth Israel Medical Center, 16th Street at First Avenue, New York NY 10003.
