May 31, 2004 – St. Croix Environmental Association invites the public to Point Udall at dawn on Tuesday, June 8, to see a celestial event that happens only twice a century. Venus will transit the sun at sunrise.
It will be seen as a small black dot moving across the sun through Woody Montier's telescope, which will be equipped with proper eye protection. The transit will start at sunrise, 5:43 a.m., and continue for about 45 minutes.
Morning Glory Coffee & Tea will be on site selling light breakfasts. Sign-ups are requested. Call 778-1952.
