Oct. 24, 2003 – The are five stops remaining on the St. Croix Fall Jazz Music Tour that's being underwritten by a local politician who is also a well-known musician:
– Rhythmix will play Friday at Pleasant's Restaurant in King's Alley, Christiansted.
– The Marcus Rabb Quartet will perform Nov. 7 at the Beachside Café in Frederiksted.
– The V.I. Jazz Ensemble is set for Nov. 21 at the Fort Christian Brew Pub in Christiansted.
– Rhythmix will be back on Dec. 5 at Pier 69 in Frederiksted.
– The Caribbean Jazz Quartet is to play on Dec. 19 at Tutu Bene/Café Mistro in Christiansted.
The tour, which began in August, is a collaborative effort of the Frederiksted Economic Development Association, the Christiansted Restaurant and Retail Association and Sen. Ronald Russell, a noted jazz guitarist. "The associations chose the restaurants, and Sen. Russell, through a donation of 10 percent of his Senate salary, is paying the cost of the bands," a release from the senator's office stated.
The idea behind the series of bookings is "to stimulate the economy of St. Croix by increasing evening business at restaurants and by promoting local talent," the release said.
