The annual St. Croix Animal Shelter Pledge Party is coming up at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Mermaid Restaurant at The Buccaneer . The entire cost of the event, including a gourmet Italian buffet, is underwritten by the Armstrong family and The Buccaneer, so all proceeds will go to support the Animal Shelter.
A cash bar featuring Italian wines will be available, according to a release from The Buccaneer and may be purchased by the bottle or the glass. All wine has been donated by Bellows International and West Indies Corp. . Mixed drinks may also be purchased, and all bar proceeds will be donated by The Buccaneer to the Shelter.
Radio personality Roger W. Morgan will be the emcee for the evening.
During the party, participants will be able to help the Shelter by making pledges to provide services and equipment as varied as adoption fees, animal feed, and gasoline for the Shelter's vehicles.
The St. Croix Animal Shelter relies heavily on community support in order to provide shelter and care for the more than 350 animals it handles every month. The Shelter also has Humane Education, Pets From Paradise and Low Cost Spay Neuter Programs, which serve the St. Croix community and are available for sponsorship. Donations to the Shelter are appreciated from those who cannot attend the Pledge Party this year.
Tickets are $50 per person. Space is limited at the Mermaid Restaurant and guests are encouraged to book early. You may pay at the door by cash, check, or credit card. Reservations can be made by calling the concierge at The Buccaneer at 712-2100.
