Sept. 20, 2003 — The V.I. Fire Service invites the public to observe National Fire Prevention Week 2003 at a Community Fun and Information Day on Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Divi Carina Bay Resort.
Starting at noon and going "until," the action will feature music and fun for the whole family: a Tug-O-War competition with teams from V.I. Fire, V.I. Police, Hovensa Fire Brigade, Territorial Court Marshals, V.I. National Guard, St. Croix Rescue, V.I. Justice and the Port Authority Fire Department.
And if that isn't enough, picture this: a big pull-off with the V.I. administration against the V.I. Senate. Who'll win this one?
There will also be a blood drive by the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital blood bank, blood pressure screening by Emergency Medical Services, CPR demonstration by St. Croix Rescue, and other informative activities, a release said.
V.I. Fire Service and the International Association of Firefighters are commemorating National Fire Prevention Week, which goes from Oct. 5 through 11. However, they remind the community to practice fire safety every day.
