ALL SAINTS SENIOR JAMES HODGE IS AWARD WINNER

May 23, 2003 — James Hodge, a senior at All Saints Cathedral School, has been recognized by the U.S. Achievement Academy for his achievement as a National Leadership and Service Award winner.
James will appear in the Academy's official yearbook, which is published nationally. The award, which is a tribute to a student's dedication, talent and ability, provides each student winner with benefits and services.
One benefit is the opportunity to apply for scholarships which range from $100 to $1,500. The Academy has provided more than $740,000 in scholarships since its inception in 1980.
"Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America's history," said Dr. George Stevens, executive director of the States Academy in a release. "Academy winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement." Winners are selected on the basis of 10 established standards.
James will attend the University of Dayton in Ohio where he will double major in computer science and computer engineering, he said in an e-mail interview. He has been at All Saints from his freshman year in 1999. "I am grateful for having the opportunity to attend the all Saints Cathedral School," he further said. "It was here that I learned how to be a true leader. All Saints helped to make me the well-rounded, caring individual that I am today."
James is the son of Yvonne and Joseph Hodge.
Virgin Islands students who won awards in 2002, according to the Academy Web site, were junior Anoop Agarwal of St. Croix Country Day School and senior Bambi Kherita Lettsome of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School on St. Thomas.
In 2000-2001 nominations were received from 18,639 junior and senior high schools and from 2,662 colleges and universities. The grade point average of all members, according to the Web site, is 3.8 on a 4.0 scale.
