JOB IMPROVES MAPP'S OWN ECONOMY, NOT THE V.I.'S

Dear Source,
I fully agree with former Senator Arnold Golden, in his letter, Mapp PFA appointment ill advised, regarding the Kenneth Mapp hiring.
While Mapp has wide governmental experience and a Harvard master's in public administration, $150 per hour for a full-time job is absolutely absurd. If he puts in a 40-hour week (which I assume he will be doing), he will make $6,000 per week, or $312,000 per year. If he is not going to work full time, then that defeats the purpose, because getting these islands in shape is a full- time job.
If the Virgin Islands government has that kind of money to throw away on someone who had his chance as a legislator and lieutenant governor to improve the economic lot of the territory and failed miserably, then I will quit law school and come home right now to be attorney general (oh, what da heck, maybe even a territorial court judge). After all, the appointment shows that we need neither be qualified nor capable.
In the last few years we have gone from rum and coke to demagoguery to pure incompetence. Let's stop the madness!
