DISTRICT HAS 10 NEW FIREFIGHTERS

May 9, 2001 – Ten new firefighters have joined the ranks of Fire Services for the St. Thomas/St. John district after completing an eight-week basic course in firefighting techniques.
They are: Lawrence Clarke, Anthony Farrell, Melvin George, Eustace Grant, Calvin Jones, Anson Larcheveaux, Ronald Lee, Robert Lettsome, Brenda Sonson and Raphael Wesselhoft.
In a Government House release, Ian Williams Sr., Fire Services acting director, described the graduates as "a welcomed asset" and commended them "for their willingness to serve in a hazardous occupation," protecting the lives and property of others despite personal risk to themselves.
A graduation ceremony and dinner for the graduates will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Mahogany Run Convention Center. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for children under 12; they will be available at the door.
In March , according to the release, five recruits completed similar training and began their duties as firefighters on St. Croix.
