POLICE INVESTIGATING 3 WEEKEND ARMED ROBBERIES

An unidentified man said to be a Puerto Rico lottery dealer was shot during an armed robbery shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday night near Soto Town in Contant, one of three reported armed robberies on St. Thomas over the weekend that police are looking into.
Police sources say the man was shot after being accosted by an armed robber who demanded his "ticket money." After a brief struggle, the man was shot in the back of the leg and the robber fled the scene with about $1,000. The gunshot wound did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police are also investigating two more armed robberies. On Friday night, a man was robbed in the Savan area of $300. The suspect fired several shots at the victim as he fled. And on Saturday afternoon three masked men reportedly robbed a man near the Contant Knolls public housing development.
No further information was available from police on the incidents, and the police blotter showed no arrests in connection with the incidents.
